Hot flashes are not my favorite thing in the world. The skin temperature increase, getting flush… I could live without it real easily.
I came across an article that talks about how eating soy helps reduce hot flashes in a significant way. Japanese women tend to eat a lot of soy, and it may not be a coincidense that only 7% of Japanese menopausal women have hot flashes (compared to 55% of U.S. women).
The phytoestrogens that are found in soy have been shown to reduce hot flashes, as well as some other diseases as we get older. A couple other things that have shown to be helpful are getting more calcium and eating those leafy veggies.
I have found some great soy products at Revival Soy. I'm in my second month of trying soy products. It really didn't take too much getting used to, and I can actually say I'm feeling better than normal. I'll let you know how it helps with the hot flashes. If anything, I have noticed a reduction in the intensity of them.
