Here are more menopause symptoms that some of us experience. If you're fortunate, you don't get them all… of hopefully not all at once.
If you missed part one of our Menopausal symptoms, just look at the post right before this one.
Emotional Changes
Decreased estrogen levels may be to blame for mental changes such as mood swings or irritability in women entering menopause. Depression and anxiety are also experienced, with some instances due to waning hormones, while others are because of emotional reasons such as the end of one's fertility and the fear of losing femininity or sexuality.
Changes in Libido
Symptoms such as a decline in libido and changes in sexual response are experienced by some women during menopause. Both of these may also be caused by certain medications, including antidepressants, or due to a hormonal imbalance. Your doctor will be able to make an accurate diagnosis and prescribe treatment to help with these and similar symptoms, including urinary changes, such as pain, burning, or discomfort, as well as urinary incontinence.
Some other menopause symptoms include:
- Aching muscles
- Allergies
- Breast soreness or tenderness
- Changes in body odors
- Cognitive changes, memory loss
- Decreased fertility
- Difficulty sleeping
- Headaches, migraines
- Heart palpitations
- Overwhelming fatigue
Other physical signs such as either weight loss or weight gain may be experienced during menopause, along with thinning hair, or thinning bones, which may eventually lead to bone fractures or contribute to the development of osteoporosis.
While menopause isn’t technically considered to be an actual medical illness, the condition may still warrant medical care, along with a few simple lifestyle changes, to keep symptoms under control. Hormone replacement therapy, as well as non-hormonal medication, and certain antidepressants may be prescribed, in addition to self-treatment methods such as relaxation techniques, diet and exercise, and stress management.
