I am going to spend the next several posts and talk about Osteoporosis. It is one of those things that I don't really like to think much about. But, not thinking about it doesn't make it go away. I am going to be touching on what I know (which ain't much sometimes), and the things I have researched.
Anyway, since Osteo is primarily linked to the bones, I found an interesting article about what I thought was strange. We all grew up thinking cow's milk was everything. I mean you grow up on a farm, they deliver milk to the door, etc. Well, this article talks about using Goat's Milk instead. Here's and excert, and then the link to the site:
"Goat milk is far superior to cow milk in helping prevent anemia and bone demineralization, say researchers from the University of Granada, in Spain.
"Castro says that the inclusion of goat milk with normal or double calcium content in the diet "favors [the] digestive and metabolic utilization of iron, calcium and phosphorus and their deposit in target organs involved in their homeostatic regulation."
"He added that regular consumption of goat milk "has positive effects on mineral metabolism, recovery from ferropenic anemia and bone mineralization in rats." Perhaps most importantly, unlike the results from cow milk, the calcium enrichment from goat milk does not interfere in the bioavailability of the minerals studied."

Anyway… something to think about. My oldest daughter drank goat's milk as a baby, mostly because of a lactose intolerance, but it may be worth a couple bucks to buy a bottle and try a sip to see how it tastes and how it may help.
